Restarting back an old habit

Micro.blog grabbed my attention.

I’ve been blogging on and off semi-seriously for the past 10 years. I’ve used WordPress for most of that time to publish my blogs, but I got discouraged with them when they had a gigantic price hike — and if I’m being honest with myself, WordPress started to become overkill for me. I just need a system to publish text. I don’t need any fancy designs or themes, mostly because I don’t blog to get discovered or famous or make money from it. I blog mostly because I enjoy the activity itself.

And it’s been a while since I’ve written or kept a blog — like around a year, almost. I hadn’t thought about starting one again until this morning.

Honestly, Micro.blog seems purpose-built for somebody like me — somebody who just enjoys writing for the sake of writing and doesn’t take his writing extremely seriously, even though it is my literal job to be a writer.

So I got the most basic plan they had — the one-dollar-a-month plan — and I’m gonna try it out for this next year. I already have a domain that I can use, and I really think that picking up my blogging habit again is going to be very useful for my mental health.

Starting my blog back up is also gonna prepare me for writing and reading all those technical documents I’m going to need to write in my UI/UX journey. Just wait till I tell you about that.

This blog is gonna be almost identical to the old one I had. It’s gonna have personal essays, and it’s gonna have opinion pieces. It’s gonna be my corner of the Internet, you know?

I’m very excited to get it back up again. I think for the next one month, what I’m gonna be mostly writing about is my commonplace project.

This entire UI/UX journey started for me like two weeks ago when I realized — and came to accept — the fact that making a stable, high income from scriptwriting or creative work is going to be incredibly difficult. And so I’m looking at this field of UI/UX design as something I could be interested in — something that is still creative but also can get me a high-paying job.

Either way, whatever I end up doing, you’ll be sure to hear about it here.
